Chapter Summaries: Exodus Chapter 4 Summary

Welcome to Exodus chapter 4 summary. Moses is still shaky about his calling. Even with all the provisions of God, Moses still hesitated so God began to show Moses miracles of power so Moses would have confidence.

First God turned the rod in Moses’ hand into a serpent (should have seen Moses run initially). Then God turned Moses’ skin from his normal texture to white as snow. That’s pretty freaky, but Moses still wasn’t convinced!

Moses then claimed he could not speak well. The Lord God then informed Moses his brother Aaron, a more polished and eloquent speaker, would meet him and be with him. God even showed Moses that Moses would be “a type of God” to Pharaoh and that Aaron would be Moses’s prophet.

Exodus Chapter 4 Summary

In all of this, God stated He would be with Moses the whole way. Moses was still hesitant, God became shocked or frustrated. Moses finally gathered the strength to take on the mission.

God commanded Moses to tell the Pharaoh that Israel is the Lord’s son, even the Lord’s firstborn. Pharaoh was to let God’s son go so that he may serve his God. If Pharaoh refused, he would lose his first son. An interesting thing took place before Moses left.

God thought to kill Moses because he had not circumcised his son. The rules of God are not exempt for servants or leaders of God. Zipporah was not so happy about this but it had to be. Moses headed out and was met along the way by his brother Aaron, who was brought up to speed by his younger brother.

When they spoke to the people, the people believed and worshipped God. This is the summary of Exodus chapter 4!
