Daily Wisdom Bible Study – A Broken Spirit Drieth the Bones
21 He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
[Unfortunately, some children refuse to be wise and there is no joy in this at all.]
A Broken Spirit Drieth the Bones
22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
[If someone has come down with an illness, the most important medicine to give is the medicine of joy, laughter, hope, and pleasant positive and power words. Words that will make the heart (mind) merry. A broken spirit (mind) will dry the bones of anyone. The reality is that the mind is dried up and the body will follow. Be uplifting in all things!]
23 A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
[I never understood buying gifts to forgive wrong doings. An apology and corrected behavior should be enough, but when one gives a gift, it is meant to pervert the ways of judgment. This is an exercise done by the wicked (on both sides).
24 Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
[If one has understanding, wisdom is before him. Such person obtained wisdom first and then moved to understanding. The fool is not paying attention to neither wisdom nor understanding!]
25 A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
[Take heed to this. Nevertheless, the way the world is being set up, children are being groomed not to care what their parents think because it is their life. Get into your children’s life at a young age!]
26 Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
[You are a respecter of persons if you punish the just!]
27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
[The man or woman who has knowledge does not talk all the time because they have a smaller crowd to talk to for one, but also knowledge is powerful and applied knowledge is great. A man of understanding has a great spirit about him. If one has understanding, his mood is always well, they may empathize or sympathize with those who are oppressed and find ways to help them, but they do so with an excellent spirit.]
28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
[Sometimes it is good to hold your peace and say nothing, those viewing will believe that you are a wise person. Simply nod and give the face of understanding or agreement and people will count such as a wise person.]
