Bible Study: The Gathering Of The Remnant

Welcome to BibleStudyMinistry.com, your online Bible Study Supplement Source. Today, we are dealing with the Gathering of the Remnant. Let’s dive in…

Key Verse:
Isaiah 11:11 – “In that day the Almighty will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.”

The Creator’s Plan for Gathering His People

The prophetic declaration in Isaiah 11:11 unveils the Almighty’s intention to gather His scattered remnant from across the nations. This is not a mere historical event but a divine mission that is intertwined with the fulfillment of covenant promises. The questions emerge: Why do so many overlook this divine gathering? Why is there little curiosity about the nations from which the Creator’s people will be brought back? Is it the deluge of movies, novels, doctrine, and media of a rapture that lulled the minds of biblical students?

Clues to the Gathering

The Remnant and the Shepherd’s Care

Jeremiah 23:3-8, And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4, And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Almighty. 5, Behold, the days come, saith the Almighty, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

6, In his days Juda shall be saved, and Ephraim shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE ALMIGHTY OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. 7, Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Almighty, that they shall no more say, The ALMIGHTY lives, which brought up the children of Jacob out of the land of Egypt; 8, But, The ALMIGHTY lives, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Jacob out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

The Almighty promises to gather the remnant of His flock from all countries. He will bring them back to their fold, where they will be fruitful and increase. He raises up a righteous Branch to reign as King.

Why do people fail to recognize the connection between the scattered remnant and their restoration?

The remnant includes those lost to historical dispersion. They are the nations mentioned in Isaiah 11:11 are not just ancient but have modern equivalents. Who today represents Assyria, Egypt, Cush, and Shinar?

No preacher, priest, or pastor desires to truly open this can of worms. They choose not to because the worms just may expand into snakes. Snakes that will choke their doctrine.

One Nation, One King

Ezekiel 37:21-22
“Thus saith the Almighty Creator; Behold, I will take the children of Akobe (Jacob) from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land.”

The Creator promises to make them one nation with one King.

Why do believers not discern the significance of unity in the scattered remnant House of Akobe or Jacob in the KJV?

Is it easier to spiritualize these prophecies than to confront the reality of who these people are?

Whistle for the Gathered Ones

Zechariah 10:8-12

6, And I will strengthen the house of Juda, and I will save the house of Joseph (Yosef), and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Almighty their Father, and will hear them. 7, And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the Almighty.

8, I will hiss for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them: and they shall increase as they have increased. 9, And I will sow them among the people (in the land): and they shall remember me in far countries; and they shall live with their children, and turn again. 10, I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria; and I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon; and place shall not be found for them.

11, And he shall pass through the sea with affliction, and shall smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the sceptre of Egypt shall depart away. 12, And I will strengthen them in the Almighty; and they shall walk up and down in his name, saith the Almighty.

The Almighty says He will “hiss” or call for His people and gather them. He will sow them among the nations, but they will remember Him and return.

Why do so few respond to the Creator’s “whistle” or even recognize it when it sounds?

Could the blindness Paul speaks of in Romans 11:25 affect both the remnant and those watching?

The Restored Land

Amos 9:14-15, And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Jacob, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. 15, And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Almighty thy Eternal Father.

The Almighty declares that He will plant His people in their land, and they will never be uprooted again.

Why is this not taken literally by many Christian scholars and believers?

The focus often shifts to allegory, ignoring the question: Who are the Creator’s people today, and where is their land?

The Promise of Return

Deuteronomy 30:3-5

The Creator will gather His people from all nations. He will circumcise their hearts, enriching them in the land promised to their fathers.

Why do modern interpretations sidestep the physical gathering and land restoration? We have read several versions of this prophecy. However, the world focus will be on Israel and Palestine and that land. They place very little focus on any other possibilities of truth and reality.

This isn’t merely about spiritual reconciliation; it involves tangible geography and identity.

Fear Not, I Am With You

Isaiah 43:5-6 “Fear not: for I am with thee. I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west.”

The Creator speaks of a literal ingathering of His people from the ends of the earth.

Why do people ignore the specifics of geography here?

Could ignorance of the nations mentioned in Isaiah 11:11 perpetuate disconnection from prophecy?

A Global Witness

Isaiah 66:19-20, 19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. 20, And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Almighty out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Almighty, as the children of Jacob bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Almighty.

The Almighty declares that survivors will go to the nations to declare His glory, and they will bring the remnant back as an offering to Him.

What keeps believers from questioning the nations listed in prophecy and their modern identities?

If this is a global effort, why is there silence on who the survivors are? And where they will be brought from?

The Fullness of the Gentiles

Romans 11:25-27

Paul reveals that blindness has happened to Jacob (Akobe) until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in. Then, all Akobe will be saved.

Why do Christians shy away from examining who “all Akobe” or Jacob represents?

The restoration involves both spiritual redemption and the physical gathering of the Creator’s chosen people.

Questions

  1. Why is there resistance to investigating the literal fulfillment of the Creator’s promise to gather His people?
  2. Who are these nations today—Assyria, Pathros, Cush, and others? Why is their identity ignored in contemporary theological discourse?
  3. Could it be that the focus on spiritual allegory blinds many to the Creator’s tangible, prophetic work of regathering His people?
  4. Why do Christians, who claim to follow the scriptures, often dismiss the significance of this divine gathering?

Final Reflection

The Creator’s plan is deliberate, specific, and far-reaching. Isaiah 11:11 reminds us that the Almighty will extend His hand a second time to gather His people from the nations, signaling a grand act of redemption and restoration. Yet, the question remains: Why do so few heed the significance of this gathering? Is it willful ignorance, or has the world been lulled into complacency by allegory?

As the Creator’s people are regathered, it serves as a witness to His faithfulness. The challenge is clear: Will you recognize His work and seek to understand the nations and people He is calling back to Himself? Let this study be a call to action—to search the scriptures and ask the hard questions that lead to deeper truths.

Power be with you,
