These are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth after the flood. Sixteen grandsons were born to Noah, Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras to Japheth.
Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan to Ham; Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram to Shem. That is a total of 16 sons or nations scattered after the tower of Babel. There was a total of 70 nations or sons related in this chapter and they were dispersed.
They dispersed because of what took place at the Tower of Babel in the land of Shinar. The seventy nations correlate to the 70 sons of Israel who went into Egypt during the days of Joseph. The 70 sons from Noah overspread the earth (Genesis 10).
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. The disciples asked, “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
