2 Samuel Chapter 9 summary will showcase David’s kindness to the house of Saul. in particular, keeping his covenant with his brother-in-law, Jonathan.

The chapter began as David asked his administration if anyone of Saul’s house was left that he can show compassion to. He wanted to show courtesy to their house for the sake of Jonathan.

A servant in Saul’s house named Ziba related that one of Jonathan’s sons had survived. David immediately sent for the son. Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth was fetched and spoke humbly with David.

2 Samuel Chapter 9 Summary

David ordered that he should be taken cared of, and would eat at court on David’s command. Saul’s servant Ziba, was now appointed to take care of Mephibosheth.

Ziba himself had fifteen (15) sons and twenty (20) attendants, who were now ordered to cater to Jonathan’s son. Mephibosheth also had a son named Micha. The house of Ziba now worked for the house of Mephibosheth, at the king’s command.
