Daily Wisdom Bible Study – Whoso Keepeth the Law is a Wise Son

6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

Today some people rather be rich and stubborn, unreasonable, bull & pigheaded than to be poor and upright. The reason why is because by deception you can fix or change an image or perception of your character and fool  people. You can run a commercial smiling and petting a dog, or holding a baby, and people will think such person is so gentle and nice. The rich can buy gifts and pervert judgment. This is why people would rather be rich and perverse than poor and upright. However, scripture will tell us that it is better to be poor (financially) and upright than rich and perverse. It is good to be rich and upright also; we are not taking away from being rich.

7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

Keep the laws of God and the laws of man, and you will be considered a wise son or daughter. Nevertheless, keep company with people out of control, undisciplined, and disorderly, and you will bring shame to your father.

Whoso Keepeth the Law is a Wise Son (or Daughter)

8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

Many people get rich unjustly. They are crafty, and usually have rocky relationships with people, including their kids. They leave their wealth to people, groups, and organizations who give to the poor. All their wealth they have gain unjustly from the poor is given back to the poor.

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

This scripture makes my ears perk upward like an animal that has heard the footsteps of his predator. If one has turned away from hearing God’s law, the prayer of such person is an abomination. Let’s put this in human understanding, if a man has a child and the child refuses to listen to the father, yet the child comes and ask for gifts and money, does not such actions cause disgust and even mild outrage to the father? Why do we not understand this when it comes to our Creator?

10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

Many people are guilty of this directly or indirectly, in teaching people incorrectly and taking them from the paths of righteousness. Therefore be mindful in your dealings, especially with the Word of God.
