The Importance Of Genesis Chapter 12

Let me help you with Genesis chapter 12 and Abram’s move. We have gathered that Genesis chapter 11 should go before chapter 10 of Genesis. Also we connected the truth about the land of Shinar that it was modern-day Sudan as opposed to modern-day Iraq.

We are sure this is not going to be accepted by everyone, but this is the foundation for relearning the scriptures for ourselves. We must have it retaught, even rescripted by a teaching priest. This is opposed to being taught by institutions and their gatekeepers.

We finally talked about the purpose of Genesis chapter 11; chapter 11 bridged the connection of the scattering of the Tower of Babel to the introduction of Abram.

This leads us to chapter 12.

The very first thing in chapter 12 is the Almighty directing Abram to leave his country. Remember, after the scattering of the Tower of Babel, the people were divided in their nations, lands, and languages.

At this time, Abram was commanded by the Almighty to leave his country, his people, and his father’s house, and go to a land he would be shown. Abram without question, faithfully does exactly what he was commanded to do. At the age of 75, he departed Haran (more likely Paran) and landed in the land of Canaan. Abram got to the land of Canaan and shouted like NBA Champ Jayson Tatum, “We did it!”

Abram observes the Canaanite in the land and he pitched his tent in a town called Bethel. As he and his family attempted to get settled, Abram realized the land of Canaan was going through a drought. Thus he had to gather his things and leave out of the land.

He went to Egypt.

In Egypt, he hadn’t been there before so he did not know the customs or integrity of the people. He felt safer going to Canaan than Egypt, perhaps because the Almighty led him to Canaan. Nevertheless, because he did not know the behavior of the people of Egypt, he told them Sarai his wife was his sister. This caused a conundrum in the end when it was found she was indeed his wife. The Pharaoh sent him out of the country.
