Serving God as He Commands Obeying His Voice

Plenty of times we get into ourselves thinking we are right in what we’re doing. We believe this because nobody has died or will die because “I’m doing well and I have good intentions.”

We say or think, ‘I go to church every day; I pray, I teach my kids well, and I have prospered, so God must be with me.

This is how the thinking goes for man where he begins to think that because he is not a murderer or rapist or something vile; he has better judgment than anybody else.

Serving God the Way He Commands

“If I steal a little extra candy from the jar it does not mean I’m a bad person; after all, I give to the poor right… I buy food for homeless people in the street when I have the time and money…”

This is not serving God; it is serving yourself. We have to remember as Christians that the service of God is to be done according to the ways of God, not man. God asks us to walk in His ways (1 Kings 2:1-4) not our ways; just like parents know better than children, God is our eternal parent and has been around from everlasting and in righteousness.

This is a great Eternal-Being to walk after. The painful example of not serving God in the way He commands was shown in 2nd Samuel chapter 6 verses 1 through 7.

Uzzah Killed Instantly

Here David was taking the Ark of God back to Jerusalem. And they knew this meant the presence of the Lord was with them; so they were excited, rejoicing, dancing, singing, and having one big celebration.

Uzzah was one of the men helping to bring back the Ark and stuck his hand out to catch it after the cart stumbled and the great God of the Universe struck him and killed Uzzah instantly! Uzzah was doing a great gesture, but it ended up turning out bad, very bad.

I hope you do not find yourself doing great gestures. But going against the rules and protocol of God to do it. Jesus will not accept people that serve Him their own way because they lack obedience and/or the discipline to find out the correct way to serve Him. We would not do this with our employers; why do it with the Most-High God Jesus Christ?

Serving God as He Commands

Just keep in mind that many people with their good deeds will come to Jesus claiming their great deeds to Him on judgment day; Jesus will reply something I don’t think people are taking into full account. He says, ‘I never knew you, depart from me ye that work iniquity.’ (Matthew 7:23)

Harsh words from a Great God and High Priest, and future King. But then again getting eternal life is harsh and hard work. Doing things your own way is even harsher, and not getting into the Kingdom of God because of it is the harshest.

Pray for peace in Jerusalem, pray for the fatherless and widowed, the sick and bereaved, and lastly pray for yourself; and I hope this posting finds you well and makes or made you better in Jesus’ name… Amen.

Salud Godspeed
