2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in the Creator. Selah.

3 But thou, O Almighty, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

4 I cried unto the Almighty with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Almighty sustained me.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

7 Arise, O Almighty; save me, O my Creator: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

Salvation belongeth unto the Almighty: thy blessing is upon thy people. Sela.

Psalm Chapter 3 Summary

In Psalm chapter 3, the psalmist begins with a lament, as he acknowledges the overwhelming number of adversaries. Adversaries arise in great numbers against the servants and children of the Almighty.

He expresses the despair of those around him, who doubt his deliverance, saying, “Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in the Creator.”

Despite this, the psalmist’s faith remains steadfast.

He declares, “But thou, O Almighty, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”

In his distress, he cried out to the Almighty, confident that his plea was heard: “I cried unto the Almighty with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill.”

Trusting in the Creator’s protection, the psalmist finds peace and rest, stating, “I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Almighty sustained me.”

This assurance emboldens him against vast numbers of foes: “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me roundabout.”

The psalmist calls upon the Almighty to arise and save him, reflecting on past deliverances: “Arise, O Almighty; save me, O my Creator: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheekbone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.”

He concludes with a proclamation of faith, attributing salvation to the Almighty and invoking the Creator’s enrichments upon His people: “Salvation belongs to the Almighty: thy blessing is upon thy people.”

This is the summary of Psalm chapter 3; Glory to the Creator Almighty.
