Now The Sons Of Jacob Were Twelve

Good day to you! Now The Sons Of Jacob Were Twelve, and they were and are a vital piece to the biblical story!

Today, as we continue seeking reform of religion, specifically Christian religiosity, we practically follow the foundations. From the beginning, land, nations, and kings were a part of humanity and the creation. But it was not until the evil plans of the grandson of Cush, Nimrod, and his one world kingdom set to enslave all the sons of Adam that these things began to take form in polarizing dimensions.

The Almighty set out to establish what He wanted from Adam, a kingdom in the landmass where He created Adam.

Enter Abram!

Covenants of land, offspring, nations, and kings were promised to the father of the faithful. These covenants were passed to his specific son and his offspring, Isaac. Remember, Abram had a total of eight physical sons, but Isaac carried the covenants.

Isaac’s sons were Jacob and Esau; the covenants ran through his son Jacob. This is where we wish to continue. Jacob had twelve sons; they are listed below:

Now The Sons Of Jacob Were Twelve

Genesis 35:23 The sons of Lea; Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Juda, and Issachar, and Zebulun:

24 The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:

25 And the sons of Bilha, Rachel’s handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:

26 And the sons of Zilpa, Lea’s handmaid: Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padan Aram.

The story of Joseph and his brothers gives the events that led the family of Abram, Isaac, Jacob, and the sons of Jacob into Egypt.

To keep all things practical, watch this because most people do not do this.

Let’s go back in time.

Let’s go back to 1300 BCE for the historians, and BC for the theologians. Okay, I really do not have the exact year before me, but let’s do Genesis chapter 10.

The generations of the sons of Noa and his sons, Shem, Japheth, and Ham, after the flood. Think about this, the sons of Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras had become a cluster of nations. They were more than likely living across Europe and what we’d call the Middle East onto the far east of Asia.

Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan were also a cluster of families, tribes, and nations living along the eastern shore of Africa and the southern parts, for Canaan.

Then we have the family, ethnic, and nations of the sons, Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram. All of these are tribes, families, and nations, and they are all independent of the sons of Jacob. In fact, they are independent of all the sons of Abram. According to Genesis chapter 11, Shem’s family had plenty of tribes. Abram descended from Arphaxad, Eber, Peleg, Naor, and Tera, his father. These are all families and nations and the sons of Jacob are just seventy souls venturing into an already established nation, Mizraim or Egypt.

These nations are just like us today.

Some are atheists, some believe in polytheism, some are monotheistic, and some believe in the very same Almighty as Abram but call on him in a separate way. I say this to point out that Abram, Isaac, and Jacob did not have a monopoly on the Almighty. They did however know Him in a peculiar intimate way.

This peculiar and intimate way is what led one of Jacob’s twelve sons to become the second in command in all the land of Egypt. Joseph was the governor of Egypt and his inspired work from the Almighty Creator delivered Egypt from total collapse.

In the great stories in the Bible, it is very easy to lose focus on some of the foundational things we have pointed out to help us keep a “practical” perspective. Abram was called by the Almighty and promised a divine covenant of land, offspring, nations (from his loins), kings, and even possession of the gates or lands of his enemies.

Remember when the Almighty said to Abram, “Blessed are those who bless you and cursed are those who curse you?” This means those who cursed Abram, would find themselves cursed; this is a simple and practical way to figure out how Abram’s descendants would possess the gates of their enemies.

Jacob took the entire family into Egypt, the Almighty even comforted him stating He would be made into a great nation in Egypt. The Almighty would go with him into Egypt and bring him back up to Canaan for sure. Thus Jacob went comfortably (Genesis 46:4-5). Jacob blessed Joseph’s sons, particularly Ephraim, stating he would be great as his seed would become a multitude of nations.

Fast Forward

The children of Jacob find themselves in Egypt multiplying like the Almighty Creator said they would. All the multiplying worried Egypt until they became the oppression-gang. What I noticed is the covenant continued through this family, the house of Jacob. Setting the pen down for now.

Power be with you!
