Joshua chapter 1 summary began as God guided and prepared Joshua for the work he was groomed to perform for the children of Israel. Moses was gone now, and God told Joshua that the LORD had given the land of Canaan to the children of Israel.

They only had to go take it with courage and strength. In order to do this and prosper, the secret weapon would be to observe all of God’s law and commandments straightforward.

Joshua Chapter 1 Summary

The book of the law was not to depart from Israel’s mouth, they need to meditate on it day and night. As they do this, then they would find much success.

Joshua then reminded the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh to keep their promise of going to war with the group. This way everyone would receive their land before they came back and enjoyed their own.

They agreed to do all that Joshua commanded as they did with Moses. The only thing they required of Joshua was to stay with the LORD. Anyone who rebelled against Joshua, they would be put to death.
