Jesus Sentenced to Death By the People, in Matthew 27, the death sentence was handed to the King of the Jews.
15 During Passover the governor always freed a prisoner chosen by the people. 16 At that time a well-known terrorist named Barabbas was in jail. 17 So when the crowd came together, Pilate asked them, “Which prisoner do you want me to set free? Do you want Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” 18 Pilate knew that the leaders had brought Jesus (Yashaya) to him because they were jealous of Him and envied Him.
19 While Pilate was judging the case, his wife sent him a message. It said, “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man. I have had nightmares because of him this night.”
20 But the chief priests and the leaders convinced the crowds to ask for Barabbas to be set free and for Jesus to be killed. 21 Pilate asked the crowd again, “Which of these two men do you want me to set free?”
“Barabbas!” they replied.
22 Pilate asked them, “What am I to do with Jesus, who is called the Messiah?”
They all yelled, “Nail him to a cross, crucify Him, crucify Him!”
23 Pilate answered, “But what crime has he done?”
“Nail him to a cross, crucify him, CRUCIFY HIM!” they yelled even louder.
24 Pilate saw that there was nothing he could do and that the people were starting to riot. So he took some water and washed his hands in front of them and said, “I won’t have anything to do with killing this man. You are the ones doing it!”
25 Everyone answered, “We and our own families will take the blame for his death!”
26 Pilate set Barabbas free. Then he ordered his soldiers to beat Jesus with a whip and nail him to a cross.
Jealousy and envy with a deeply evil heart can go a long way. It will take you down a very evil path. Passover is the time of year when the people of Israel would celebrate their freedom from Egypt.
They also practiced living a sin-free life during the weeklong celebration of unleavened bread. The Passover was actually represented by a lamb whose blood delivered the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt to Pharoah.
Take the mask off the faces of the characters and we have a lamb, which is Yashaya the Christ (popularly known as Jesus Christ); He is the Lamb of Elohim. His blood delivered the children of Israel from their sins.
Their sins keep them in bondage even in modern-day Egypt, which is captivity and bondage. Pharoah today is the modern-day rulers of the world who all work for Lucifer the devil. This is why we need and partake in Passover spiritually and physically today.
Don’t Have Anything to Do with Him…
So the Jews are getting ready but they have a problem with CHRIST and Pilate would set Him free but the Jews, the chief priest have too much riding on this. Instead, they let a known terrorist and criminal go named Barabbas.
Pilates’s wife warned him to have nothing to do with whoever Jesus was and he washed his hands of it. “I am innocent of the blood of this just person, see y’all to that,” he declared to the chief priests.
The responsibility and consequences were assumed by the people of Judah through their leaders. They responded, “His blood be on us, and on our children,” that is how deeply they felt about the death of the Anointed One from the Father.
