Go Ye Therefore and Teach All Nations: Reframe

This is the end of the LORD’s public appearances on the earth, when He told His disciples to “Go ye therefore and teach all nations.” But first, it began on an unusual Sabbath day.

As the Sabbath concluded and it began to get dark, the first day of the week approached everyone. This was when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb or sepulcher where the LORD was laid.

As they approached, there was a huge earthquake in Jerusalem. It was an angel of the LORD, who’d come down from heaven specifically to roll back the stone from the entrance of the tomb’s door. When the dust settled, both Mary’s saw the angel sitting on the huge stone.

Go Ye Therefore and Teach All Nations

The angel’s countenance was described as lightning and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards and keepers of the tomb were scared stiff and were like dead men.

This was when the angel then spoke to the women and told the women that they should not fear because he knew they came looking for Jesus the Messiah, who was crucified. The angel reported that Jesus was not there, He’d risen from His sleep; the angel even showed the place where Jesus had laid prior to being resurrected.

The women were then commanded to go and quickly tell the LORD’s disciples that He is risen from the dead as He told them He would and that He would meet them in Galilee.

They ran quickly from the tomb sight with fear mixed with great joy ready to spread the news. As they were on their way to the disciples, Jesus Himself met and saluted them. They fell down and held the LORD by the feet, worshipping Him, afraid of everything transpiring.

The Guards of the Tomb Bribed

Jesus told them not to be afraid, but to go tell His brothers that they should go into Galilee, where they will see Him. They went their way, however, back in Jerusalem the guards who watched the tomb and who’d seen the angel went to the chief priests to tell them what they’d seen.

They were scared of what the chief priests would do to them. However, they were more scared of what they saw so they reported it. The chief priests took counsel together and decided to pay the soldiers off to be silent. Good ole bribery worked back then.

The guards and soldiers were commanded to tell people that the LORD’s disciples came by night and stole His body while they were asleep (speaks well to their guarding ability).

The chief priests said they’d support and secure them if the governor heard about this and decided to harm them. The guards took the money and did as it was rehearsed for them to do. This became a common report among the people of Judah, and even today for many Jews.

All Power was Given Unto Jesus the Christ

The remaining eleven disciples went their way into Galilee into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. They saw the LORD and came to worship Him; however, He must have looked a little different because some of the disciples doubted that it was Him (maybe they couldn’t believe their eyes).

Jesus came and spoke to them, specifically saying, “All power is given unto Me in Heaven and in Earth!” The LORD told them to go and teach all nations and to baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The disciples were also commanded to teach all people to observe all things the LORD had commanded His disciples. Finally, Jesus then promised them that He is always with them saying, “I AM with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Amen.
