I Have Sinned that I Have Betrayed the Innocent Blood

I have Sinned in that I Have Betrayed the Innocent Blood:  Matthew 27 short. 3 Judas had betrayed Jesus, but when he learned that Jesus had been sentenced to death, he was sorry for what he had done. He returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and leaders 4 and said, “I have sinned by betraying a man who has never done anything wrong.”

“So what? That’s your problem,” they replied. 5 Judas threw the money into the temple and then went out and hanged himself.

6 The chief priests picked up the money and said, “This money was paid to have a man killed. We can’t put it in the temple treasury.” 7 Then they had a meeting and decided to buy a field that belonged to someone who made clay pots. They wanted to use it as a graveyard for foreigners.

8 That’s why people still call that place “Field of Blood.”

9 So the words of the prophet Jeremiah came true, “They took the thirty silver coins, the price of a person among the people of Israel. They paid it for a potter’s field, as the Lord had commanded me.”

Judas Iscariot betrayed the LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver. The chief priest cared nothing about the money; they only cared to capture Mr. Anti-Establishment, His Majesty, the LORD Jesus Christ. The guilt of what Judas did terrorize him.

He had to put himself out of his own misery and kill himself by hanging himself. Self-righteousness is a terrible disease. Watch this; the same chief priests, not the lower level priests, but the chief priests.

They realized they could take the silver given to them to frame and kill a man, but to use it in the treasury of the temple was just unacceptable. That would be morally wrong. So they purchased a field to bury foreigners within.

Weren’t they so thoughtful?

The people with a sound mind thought this so ridiculous, to this day, they still call that field the field of blood. Therefore they did fulfill the words of both Jeremiah and Zechariah.

These prophets wrote and proclaim the people of Judah would take thirty pieces of silver as the price of His value. They paid for a potter’s field with His price, just as the LORD ALMIGHTY appointed for His Son. Amazing!
