Exodus Chapter 34 Summary: Chapter Summaries

Exodus chapter 34 summary began as the LORD God ordered Moses to make two tables of stones again. This was so because Moses broke the first set in anger when he caught the children of Israel partying to a golden calf.

God wrote the same covenant on these second set of stones. God also told Moses to have the people ready in the morning to present himself before LORD God on top of the mount. This was to oblige Moses request to see the LORD’s glory.

Moses did as commanded and the LORD came down in the cloud and stood with Moses and proclaimed the name of the LORD in a moment. The LORD passed before Moses in an abundance of power.

Exodus Chapter 34 Summary

Moses immediately fell down to worship, and perhaps a bit unconscious at the power and majesty of the LORD. Afterward, Moses asked God to reconsider going in with the children of Israel into the land as opposed to sending an angel.

God did budge but told of the work He would do in the earth, that it will be terrible. He would drive out the Amorite, Canaanite, Hittite, Perizzite, Hivite, and the Jebusite from the land.

God warned Moses not to make covenants with the people of the land, as it would become a snare to the children of Israel. The Israelites were reminded of one of the LORD’s “nicknames;” Jealous because God was a jealous God.

Moses Starts to Shine… Literally!

The chapter ended as God reminded the people of something they should keep and remember perpetually. The feast of unleavened bread, all firstborns belong to God, keep the feast of weeks (Pentecost), and the feast of ingathering (Tabernacles).

Yes, three times in a year all men and their families were commanded to appear before the LORD God, the God of Israel. Moses was with the LORD another forty days and forty nights; he didn’t eat bread or water, and this time.

In addition, his face began to glow as if he was turning into a being of light, as God. When he returned to the children of Israel, they saw Moses and were afraid to approach him because of his shine.

He eventually was required to put a veil over his face to speak with them. This is the summary of Exodus chapter 34, glory to the only Elohim.
