Too often Christians are getting caught up in the realm of the “me” society and because of the powers of the leaders of this world, our ability to exercise our true powers are diminished. This is mainly done because of lack of belief.

As Christians, we were left a lot of power to heal the sick, raise the dead (spiritually and physically), feed the hungry with a couple loaves of bread, and so on. Why aren’t we doing all of these?

Not What I Will, But What Thou Wilt

The main reason is because of our lack of belief. We definitely don’t believe we can do these things, and we do not believe others can. While it is our own faults, our lack of faith affliction is furthered by the leaders of the world today.

What ever do I mean?

What I mean is that the powers of the world have suppressed this information and withheld it from the masses. In addition, they have flooded the world with the “get yours now,” mentality focused on work, eat, live, enjoy life, and prepare for Heaven (maybe).

We’re bombarded with the Get Rich or Die Trying message, the Work Hard to Get Ahead message, that we are forgoing on God’s will and exercising our OWN will first.

Jesus clearly said, “not what I will, but what thou wilt!” Jesus didn’t say this in the face of an adultery situation, Jesus didn’t say this in the face of stealing or honoring mother and father. Jesus said this in the face of death!

Mark 14

35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

It’s dark and you are with your guys and you know the people are coming for you. You know you have to take one for the team … what do you do?

You know what Jesus did! He fell on the ground praying that the Father either stop this hour or delay it, and even prayed that all things are possible to the Father. One thing Jesus prayed to be possible was escaping the situation that was hours upon Him.

Not What I Will, But What Thou Wilt

Before Jesus closed the request, He said, not my will be done, but Thy will be done.

Can we do that? Can we put down our will and allow the Father’s will to be done? Nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt!
