Seek That Which Has Gone Astray

Welcome to BibleStudyMinistry.com, your online Bible Study supplement source. Should we seek that which has gone astray? Today we have a study on Matthew 18:11-13; let’s take a look.

When teaching or sharing Matthew 18:11-13, it’s important to focus on the heart of the Anointed’s mission and the compassion of the Almighty for those who are “lost.”

Core Messages:

The Purpose of the Anointed’s Mission (Verse 11):

“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.”

This verse points to the central mission of His Majesty, the Anointed: to seek and save the lost. Those who have gone astray from the path of righteousness, whether through sin, rebellion, or being misled, are the focus of His compassionate outreach. This puts a spotlight on the redemptive nature of the Anointed’s ministry—He came not for the righteous, but to bring back those who were separated from the Almighty.

The Parable of the Lost Sheep (Verse 12):

In this parable, His Majesty invites His listeners to consider the actions of a shepherd with a hundred sheep. If one sheep goes astray, the shepherd doesn’t allow the sheep to remain lost and astray. Instead, he leaves the ninety-nine safely behind to go after the one lost sheep.

What does this teach us today?

This teaches us about the Almighty’s relentless love and care for every individual. The US Military used to have a slogan, “No soldier or man left behind.”

The Almighty Creator is the originator of this mindset. He is willing to pursue even one lost soul, showing that no one is insignificant or beyond His concern. If we haven’t, we should adopt this mindset. And this does not mean shoving a Bible or your brand of Christianity or religion down a “lost soul’s” throat.

It means that you continue to care for them, call them, and treat your relationship with the same love. Thi is despite them giving you cold shoulders, denouncing you, or distancing themselves from you socially. Acts of kindness and love is the true gospel.

Rejoicing Over the Found (Verse 13):

When the shepherd finds the lost sheep, he rejoices. He rejoices more over that one than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. Once again, this illustrates the immense joy in heaven when a lost soul repents and is brought back into the fold. It shows the value placed on redemption and restoration. Every person matters deeply to the Almighty, and there is great celebration when someone returns to Him after being lost.

Summary:

The core of this passage reveals the heart of the Almighty toward humanity. The Anointed Prince of Juda, His Majesty, the “Son of man,” came to save those who are spiritually lost, just as a shepherd seeks out a lost sheep. It teaches about the Almighty’s boundless compassion and the joy that comes from the restoration of a lost soul. It also reminds us of our own responsibility to value every person and their return to the path of righteousness.

This is a powerful message of grace, showing that the Almighty pursues us even when we wander, and rejoices when we are found and return.

I pray that you are able to find and recover every lost soul, today and forever. Until next time, Power be with you.
