Deception: Biblical Perspectives On Lies And Falsehoods

Welcome to BibleStudyMinistry.com, your online Bible Study supplement source. In a world where misinformation and deception with Ai and fake news, the world was inundated with fake scriptures long before. These fake scriptures, fake religion, and fake Word often cloud our judgment and discernment of the scriptures and of the world.

The Bible provides profound insights into the nature of lies and falsehoods. We are able to draw from the vast amount of Scripture, including Jeremiah 16:19, which highlights the burden of deceit upon the Creator’s people, as we explore how ancient texts address the issue of falsehood.

Let’s take a journey across various passages and uncover the timeless warnings and lessons about believing and perpetuating lies. If you are a Christian or any religion, it would be wise to think about the possible lies. This exploration not only illuminates the spiritual consequences of deceit but also encourages a deeper discernment in our quest for truth.

Ruling Others With Lies

Let’s delve into these scriptures and reflect on their relevance for navigating the complexities of truth and falsehood in our own lives.

Jeremiah 5:31 – “The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?”

Jeremiah openly proclaims the prophets prophesy falsely. The priests rule over the people by their own means. The harshest part about it is that the Almighty’s people love to have it that way. I can tell you the truth and 90% of people reading this will scorn me choosing to adhere to the more prevalent lies. The prophet poses a question. What will all people who are trapped in these religious and Christian lies do about it? Our prophets and priests prophesy and rule falsely, think about it.

Deceit and Lies

Jeremiah 14:14 – “Then the Almighty said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.”

Once again, consider Jeremiah’s words. Prophets have prophesied lies in the Almighty’s name. He did not send them or commanded them, however they spoke for the Almighty without permission. They give and gave false visions, a deceit of their own heart. Imagine if we still have these in our daily life and worship? Imagine, you believe you are on the path of righteousness, but you are actually on a deceitful path to destruction. What will you do?

Prophet Teaches Lies

Isaiah 9:15 – “The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.”

The prophet who teaches lies is the tail; once again, prophets have and are teaching lies. In this chapter in Isaiah, the Almighty promised to cut off the head and the tail of His people. We are still awaiting this day.

Isaiah 28:15 – “Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves.”

The people have made a covenant with death by hiding in lies and falsehoods. They have made lies their refuge and falsehoods their hiding place. How do you hide in falsehoods? One way is that you could call yourself a people that you are not. You can flip histories, change lands and locations; this is how you make lies a refuge.

False Visions

Ezekiel 13:6 – “They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The Almighty saith: and the Almighty hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.”

There are prophets who have seen vain and false visions claiming them to be from the Creator Almighty. Many visions in the scripture were not from the Creator. There are false visions out there that people have placed their hopes in. The rapture comes to mind, it is the one of the strongest hopes people place their hopes in.

Divining Lies

Ezekiel 13:9 – “And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Akobe, neither shall they enter into the land of Akobe; and ye shall know that I am the Almighty Creator.”

The Almighty is against the prophets who divine lies and they will not enter the land. However, the idea is that pastors, priests, prophets, and leaders have divined lies. Could we be living by any of their lies today?

Strong Delusions Unable to Shake Off

2 Thessalonians 2:11 – “And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.”

Paul the apostle got into the action stating the Almighty will send delusions of great proportions onto the people. It is because the people want to believe in lies, so He will help them believe the lies they want.

So there we have it; lies and deception are a big part of the scriptures. Lies and deception have been a part of the creation from time in memorial. It is for those with discernment to separate the lie from the truth.
