The Elders Received Not the Promise

The Elders Received Not the Promise

In the eleventh chapter of Hebrews, the writer states that by faith the elders obtained a good report. The writer lists specific elders and the works they performed, beginning with Abel who offered good sacrifices before the Lord.

There also was Noah and Abraham, who took actions based on believing God Word. Moses, Joshua, Rahab, Gideon, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and more, these all worked great faith in the Lord, they obtained a good report.

They are waiting on this as they rest, their bodies returned to the dust, as the scriptures state and as humans do with their dead. The writer finished by saying, they will not be made perfect without us.

Being made perfect means they will not receive their eternal incorruptible body without us, yes even us still living today. This can only mean one thing; the dead know nothing and are waiting on the appointed day of redemption. So will we, and this is a beautiful thing when we understand this.
