Deuteronomy 30 is a continuation from chapter 29, and what people don’t realize is that God and Moses knew the children of Israel would rebel and break the covenant and turn away from God.
This would land them in a worldwide captivity, where they would be scattered as captives all over the world.
This chapter however shines light on the graciousness and mercy of God. It begins with Israel turning back to their God in the nations they (will be) and are driven to and obeying God’s voice there.
Deuteronomy Chapter 30 Summary
Then God will have compassion on them, and first return to the earth, and gather them from all the nations God has scattered them. So there is light at the end of the tunnel for physical and spiritual Israelites out there.
God will fetch them and bring them to the land their fathers possessed and God will treat them good there and multiply them. In fact, chapter 30 says God will give them a circumcised heart and put all the curses on their enemies and rejoice over them for good, instead of evil.
They only need to obey the voice of the Lord and do all He commands as He is telling them through Moses there in chapter 30 (still in the wilderness). Moses tells the people that the word is not far from them, that it is very near, so close it is in them.
It is in their mouth and heart, so they can do it all. Life and death was set before Israel as it was before Adam.
The chapter ends with Moses calling heaven and earth to record this day against Israel, for them to choose God because He is their life and length of days.
We pray the Father to add blessings to the reading and doing of His Holy Word through His Son Jesus the Messiah. Amen!
