What is Armageddon and the Rapture About?

What Bible Study topic, subject, or chapter would you like to learn in more detail? We are opening those again now that the Father is once again, sending His Spirit to gather His saints once again for the last time; we feel the need to address questions.

Many of the questions are not asked clearly, but we’ll do our best to answer them as well as we can.

Today’s question is:

4) what are rapture and Armageddon?

Now let’s take a look at the desire of the Lord. It is documented in Psalm chapter 132 by oath to the second king of Israel.

11 The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

God swore in truth to David and is unwilling to turn from His oath. The oath is twofold; one that out of David’s lineage, God will come into the family of man and will establish His Throne.

This is so because God has chosen Zion (Jerusalem) as His habitation because He has desired to do so. He concludes that this is His rest forever, this is where the Lord will dwell. Zion or Jerusalem is on the earth.

This is a polar opposite desire than the one of satan who was thrust out of Heaven (for having his own desire separate from the Lords).

The Lord’s Very Public Desire

The angel Gabriel gave Mary the same prophecy as we’ve read in Psalm chapter 132, of sitting on David’s throne. See Luke chapter 1:

  • 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
  • 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom, there shall be no end.

If God’s desire is to rule on the earth forever on David’s throne, where does the Rapture come into play?

Satan’s Secret Deceptive Desire

When one has been deceived so long, they can begin to believe they have the truth, and when that is passed along, sincerely, they are ignorantly lying.

This is the groundwork for us to look into God stating His Kingdom will come and we will dwell on the earth, or God will rapture a chosen few off to heaven with Him.

What we will soon realize is that the rapture, which is a man going to heaven with the Lord, is really a desire of Satans and not Gods.

Here is some backstory on Satan; he was thrown out of heaven because he did not like God’s will or plan. Ezekiel’s chapter 28 and Revelation’s chapter 12 provide us more detail on the story of why satan was harshly thrown out of Heaven.

Going Back to Heaven

As a result, Satan has always had the keen desire to return to the Heavenly realm; it is “his” desire to go to heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15). Satan’s secret deceptive desire he has subconsciously poured onto everyone in the world.

Every religion nearly wants to go to heaven, yet they aren’t even aware of the desire that has been subliminally poured on them. For the sake of knowledge and possible lost salvation, let us all bring awareness to the secret desire of the fallen angel responsible for the fall of mankind.

The idea of the rapture comes from 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verse 16 and 17:

  • 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
  • 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Meet the LORD in the Air

The LORD will rapture those who remain alive, they will be caught up in the clouds and ever be with the LORD. However, in Zechariah the 14th chapter, it is revealed that the LORD’s feet will come down upon the Mount of Olives, which is back on the earth.

In fact, we’d be hard-pressed to find the word rapture in the Bible (in the sense in which it is traditionally taught) except in cases of modern translated bibles. If you believe in being raptured, I truly wish for the Holy Spirit to be revealed to you in this case.

The second question is in regards to Armageddon.

Armageddon is the area where the last battle between man and God will take place. It is believed this could be what is taking place in Ukraine right now. In Revelation 16, it says:

16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

This is right before the seventh trumpet is blown and the final vial is poured. According to scripture, the nations will be in battle and the LORD will intervene. He will because of the nature of the weapons being used. These weapons could destroy the earth and the very elect of God.

It is there the LORD will destroy the armies of the nations and all those who destroy the earth. This is what Armageddon is; it means in Hebrew, the hill of Megiddo. The word is a Greek transliteration of the Hebrew har məgiddô (הר מגידו).

Har means “a mountain or range of hills”. … Megiddo refers to a fortification made by King Ahab that dominated the Plain of Jezreel. Its name means “place of crowds.” In essence, this is a mountain range where a crowd of men will gather, unfortunately, to be destroyed. I beg you to pull your sons and daughters out of the military going into this region.

I pray this has been edifying in the name of the Son of God.
