2 Kings Chapter 12 Summary: Chapter Summaries

2 Kings chapter 12 summary began with the chronicle of the king of Judah name Joash. Joash became king of Judah in the seventh year of king Jehu of Israel’s rule.

He was blessed to rule for forty years over the people of Judah. The young king was taught from a young age about the LORD, from a priest of the LORD. He was well versed in what was good and right, and he performed much of it.

One of the kings desires was to repair the Temple of the LORD. Joash wanted the Levites to repair the temple of the LORD, and well into his twenty-third (23rd) year, the repairs on the Temple still were not done.

2 Kings Chapter 12 Summary

It wasn’t being repaired because the priest were not paying the workers, so the workers weren’t working. The king, Joash, then decided to stop paying the priest. Jehoiada the priest then decided to put honest men in charge of paying the workers, and finally, the temple was repaired.

The chapter shifted to the king of Syria, Hazael, who decided to war with Gath and also intended to war with Jerusalem. Joash payed Hazael off and like that the problem was solved (the big bully).

Joash’s days were good, until some men in his cabinet or administration decided to conspire against him, and had him killed. Don’t worry, the details are chronicled in the book of the kings of Judah.

His son, Amaziah, took over the throne in his place. This is the summary of 2 Kings chapter 12, glory to Honor, the Holy One of Israel.
