Daily Wisdom Bible Study – Wealth Maketh Many Friends

1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

It is better for you to be broke with integrity than to be someone who does and says unreasonable things being foolish. Some people lose their integrity because they are poor. Stop and trust in the God of Israel!

2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.

The soul or the person who is without knowledge, it is not good. I once went to a dentist and that particular dentist informed me that I had six cavities. I was astonished because I had been taking care of my teeth. With knowledge of possible errors or deceit, I went to get a second opinion, and the second opinion informed me that I did not have one cavity. I was astonished again because either the former dentist was that bad in their craft or they lacked integrity. I did not haste with my feet to get the procedure done and sin against my own soul.

3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the Lord.

This is very interesting to me because it explains the way we like to live; the foolish perverts his way. The fool is corrupt, walks in ways of corruption and then his mind is constantly worried against God helping or hurting him. The simple answer is to stop being corrupt, and stop the worrying.

4 Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

I never forget watching a cartoon with my daughter, and the character in the cartoon had won a large sum of money and immediately went to buy a big house, fancy cloths, and a nice car. He began to have house parties, and people that attended these parties called him “their friend” began showing up. He had deserted his real best friend who tried to warn him of his spending and his newly acquired fake friends. He didn’t even know many of these people, but they claimed to know him and buttered him up because of his large spending and free parties. Finally, a month or two later, his accountant came into the room of a party and publically let him know he’d spent all of his money. He scream, and one guest yelled, “YOU’RE BROKE?”

When wealthy, you’ll have the ability to make many friends, but when you are poor, it can be difficult to even get a hello from your neighbor. Remember this when you become wealthy or when you lose your wealth.
