The Lord your God Proveth You

The Lord your God Proveth You

Why does God, who knows all things, including the end from the beginning, need to prove you? Why does God need to prove us.

In Deuteronomy 13, the issue of a prophet or dreamer of dreams comes up. If that prophet or dreamer tells a sign and it comes to pass … for instance they tell you, in 30 days you will find a new job and your wife (of whom you have split up with) will return to you. This is their prophecy or dream towards you.

In 30 days you find you get a new job and your wife calls you to reconcile, you may chase the prophet down and see if he has more insight for you. Nevertheless, if while seeking more insight, this prophet asks you to go after other gods, the scripture says you should not listen to that prophet any longer.

The Lord your God Proveth You

We need to, in our day, avoid that prophet. During the days of the children of Israel and Moses, that prophet would have been thrusted through.

Why did all of this happen?

It happened because the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your mind and with all your body.

The Lord your God Proveth You

This is not to prove you so that the Lord could be sure about, no. Instead, this is to prove you for your own self that you can be sure of yourself.

God is proving you to yourself, are you one who is steadfast in the Lord or not. When God told us to prove Him, it is again for us. It is for our own verification or edification (Malachi 3:10), not for God.

The same thing for the scripture below; following an observer of times, who then tells you to disregard Jesus Christ, is to prove to your own self how shaky or how strong the ground is in your faith in Jesus Christ.

Deuteronomy 13

3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Maybe you’re just bearing the name and acting, but the Lord your God proveth you is for you to see where you stand, not for God to see where you stand. God already knows.

Blessing in the name of Jesus Christ to you this day!
