Being Right or Good, Which is Better?

Being Right or Good, Which is Better?

Being Right or Good, Which is Better?

5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

A wicked person giving you counsel is probably going to give you counsel that will benefit themselves first and by chance maybe help you.

Therefore, there is a great chance that their counsel will be lies and not truth that will benefit you. However, the thoughts of someone who is right is one who is righteous.

Notice, it did not say the thoughts of the righteous are good (in this verse). Some people who do things that appear to be good, the thing may not be the right thing to do.

Always remember there is a difference in what is right and what is good. Not everything that is good is right, but everything that is right is good.

For instance, it may feel and be good to bail your teenage son out of jail each time he is caught stealing, however it is not necessarily the right thing to do. The right thing to do is to let him pay his own consequences, this is both right and good.

This is why the righteous have right thoughts and the wicked have deceitful counsel.
