The Desire Accomplished is Sweet

Peace and blessings – BibleStudyMinistry.com and today briefly, I’d like to you to take two verses into consideration here in proverbs as our daily devotional.

18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

The only thing coming to people who refuse instruction is poverty and shame. I like to always remind people that poverty is not just financial poverty. Poverty can be educational poverty, emotional poverty, and even spiritual poverty.

Unfortunately, people who live in any kind of poverty usually are ashamed, especially when they have been instructed, but refused to adhere.

As the law of polarity states, everything has an opposite, this is no different. The one who regards correction and instruction, is the one who will be honored!

The Desire Accomplished is Sweet to the Soul

19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.

When you make a goal and go after it and accomplish it, your soul and spirit feels sweet. You feel a great high accomplishing things you set out to accomplish. If you don’t set goals, life feels aimless and empty.

Therefore, we should all set goals; long term, mid-term, and short-term goals, so that everyday we are moving towards something important.

The second half of this verse states it is an atrocity, a strong disgrace, for a fool to depart from evil. This is how the foolish view life (most of them at least). They would rather die than to have wisdom.

Just as some of us into the Word of God, would rather die than to depart from God’s Word. It would be a disgrace and abomination to withdraw from God’s truth, so it is for some fools to withdraw from evil and foolishness.

Think about this next time you find yourself arguing over something with a stubborn person or you’re trying to force-convert someone.
