Study Disproves the Bible’s Claim of Ancient Canaanites, Kinda

A recent scientific article was released by telegraph.co.uk titled, Study disproves the Bible’s claim that the ancient Canaanites were wiped out! Unfortunately for Chris Graham, the writer of the article, his report is not fully accurate.

He writes that the ancient Canaanites were not wiped out, as the Bible claims, but that they went on to become modern-day Lebanese, a study has found. The use of the word claims is important because it suggests the bible is false or wrong.

This is to pour doubt on the person who believes the Bible, a strong technique, and tool used by Satan.

Graham then used the scripture Deuteronomy chapter 20, verse 17, which says, “But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites… as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.”

We don’t have to look long and wide to know that the good Lord can command and people don’t have to do. Thou shalt not kill, but people do it freely every day, no stealing, one claims, as he proceeds to take his neighbor’s belongings.

The children of Israel were commanded to destroy all the Canaanites, but simply weren’t able to do it or didn’t want to do it. This is not because God didn’t fortify them with the power and ability, but because they lacked faith in being able to do it.

Graham could have read the next few books under the leadership of Joshua to verify if the children of Israel exterminated the Canaanites or not.

The people of Lebanon very well could be the Canaanites, because the Bible states that the children of Israel were not able to remove them but made them servants to them and they remained there until this day.

So the study disproves the Bible’s claim, kinda, but the reality is that the Bible never says the Canaanites were wiped out. Scriptures to assert Canaan was not wiped out are below:

22 There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.

=

2 This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,

3 From Sihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:

4 From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites:

5 And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baalgad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.

=

63 As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.

=

10 And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.

27 Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

28 And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

29 Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

30 Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.

32 But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.

It’s amazingly great to always see how the word of God unfolds truth. Scripture explaining scripture.
We the living God, Jehovah Elohim, Yahweh is his name, He reigns forever.
Indisputable, infallible words can describe Him enough.
