What Does the Bible Say about Halloween

What Does the Bible Say about Halloween? Halloween; what a fun night, the kids get dressed up in funny costumes, they get all amped up for candy, the older kids for pranks, and even adults for parties dressed in outfits they never get a chance to wear during the year (without being called a weirdo).

It is a fun time, filled with fun and scary moments.  The scary stuff is for the true “Halloweener” who is into it for the thrill; scaring people and haunted houses.

I wasn’t much into the whole Halloween thing, I did not like going to strangers’ houses and asking for candy.  I did not like getting dressed up in silly outfits.  It was just my personality.  But I can understand the fun in it and why kids love it and even grown-ups.

What Does the Bible Say about Halloween

However, what does the Bible say about Halloween?  It says virtually nothing about the actual word “Halloween.”  However, we need to get a clear understanding of what Halloween means. Halloween (a shortening of All Hallows’ Evening), also known as Hallowe’en or All Hallows’ Eve, is a yearly holiday observed around the world on October 31, the night before All Saints’ Day.

Much like Day of the Dead celebrations, the Christian feast of All Hallows’ Eve, according to some scholars, incorporates traditions from pagan harvest festivals and festivals honoring the dead, particularly the Celtic Samhain; other scholars maintain that the feast originated entirely independently of Samhain. –Pulled from Wikipedia-

The word broken down means or is saying ‘hallowed evening’ or ‘holy evening.  If you are puzzled as I was when I first learned this, you may be wondering to yourself, “there is nothing ‘holy’ about Halloween.”  You are right.

An Abomination to Jesus?!?

It is essentially a day where we remember the dead and attempt to communicate with them because they are “saints.”  If you are an informed Christian, you already know the dead are not in Heaven but are in the dirt of the earth waiting on their judgment.

You also know that communicating with the dead is impossible and yet if done is an abomination to the Lord God Jesus. Communicating with the dead is done through a means known in the Bible, a familiar spirit.  Leviticus 19 v31 says, “31Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.”

‘And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people (Leviticus chapter 20).

Again in Deuteronomy chapter 18 it says at verses 10:

10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

Even Saul, the first king over the children of Israel was essentially put to death for consulting a familiar spirit once the Lord stopped communicating with him (1st Samuel 28 v24-25).  Revelation chapter 22 verses 15 also relays to us the strict judgment of the Lord that no sorcerer will enter into His Kingdom.

Practicing Halloween does not make you a sorcerer or medium, but you do lend support to a device Satan has brought forth to man.  Using evil angels to communicate with the dead is a practice of NO FAITH.  Going to psychics to learn your future and having them read tarot cards to you is a sign of no faith in God.

Instead, you should be going to the God who created you; and not doing so exercises a lack of faith in your God.  This is why it is such an abomination.  Even Jesus asked the question, will you seek the dead by going to a familiar spirit instead of your God (Isaiah 8 v19)?

Try the Spirit

Try the spirit because the Lord does talk to man through dreams and visions, but as the scripture said if the vision is against the laws, statutes, and judgments of the Lord; you know that is an evil spirit and you are not to deal with anything they present.  Halloween is a convention of evil or familiar spirits that we are not to participate in.  God bless you today, thank you for reading.

Truth! Thank you! I do not like the occult, halloween, evil, in any form, transparent or hidden. Or Camouflaged with candy.

    • Very true D, many things are covered or “camouflaged” with fun or sensory pleasing things for the carnal body. Thank you for your comment.
